Super Sports Day

Super Sports Day at the 8 Day Weekend is a high-energy celebration of community, fitness, and fun—designed to bring people of all ages together while raising funds for local charities, all taking place on the Common at the heart of Saffron Walden on Saturday 12th July 2025

The day features the thrilling Walden Warriors Challenge, the all-time-acclaimed tug of war competition, 5-a-side football finals, inflatable games of all sorts, kids’ activities, and group workouts. It’s an action-packed event where everyone can get involved, cheer each other on, and enjoy a fantastic day of movement, laughter, and community spirit

Walden Warrior Challenge

This summer, Bearwalden CrossFit & Tilt are teaming up with local gyms, running clubs and cycling groups to bring something EPIC to the Saffron Walden Carnival — a community-powered event combining the best of CrossFit and HYROX into one unforgettable experience.

The Walden Warrior Challenge is designed for everyone — from athletes to absolute beginners — with scaled versions of every workout and fun family-friendly heats for kids and teens too.

The legendary Tug of War is back for Sports Day at the 2025 Saffron Walden Carnival! A long-standing favourite of the 8 Day Weekend, this epic showdown is all about teamwork, strength, and sheer determination. Dust off your boots, rally your team, and get ready to dig in for glory. We will be staging the finals of the 5-a-side football tournaments organised by the team at Saffron Walden Football Club and Saffron Walden Community Football Club.

Certified Professional Wrestling

Get ready, Saffron Walden—Certified Professional Wrestling is bringing the smackdown to Super Sports Day! With body-slamming action, larger-than-life personalities, and family-friendly entertainment that’ll have you on your feet, CXW delivers all the thrills of the big leagues right to our doorstep. These warriors of the ring train locally every Wednesday and Sunday—but now they’re stepping out of the gym and into the spotlight with live shows that are pure adrenaline from bell to bell. So grab your foam fingers and get ringside… because when CXW hits the stage, it’s not just a show—it’s a spectacle!

Saffron Walden Youth Darts

Discover the future of darts with the Saffron Walden Youth Darts group—a welcoming space for 6–21 year olds to practice, play, and develop their skills with the support of our experienced coaching team. Whether you’re a young enthusiast or have been inspired by Night at the Darts, featuring stars like Stephen Bunting, Joe Cullen, Fallon Sherrock, and Simon Whitlock, this is your chance to get involved. Come along, give it a go, and see if you could be the next big name in darts!

Climbing Wall

The Climbing wall returns standing 7.5m high. With 15 set routes there is something for both novices and experienced climbers alike.

From Cornhole to Table Golf, a selection of hand made games from the Saffron Walden Community Shed for everyone to enjoy and to gain bragging rights against your opponent!

SW Bouncy Castles

Saffron Walden Bouncy Castles is bringing ultimate inflatable excitement to Family Fun Day, with a fantastic range of bouncy castles, slides, and inflatables perfect for all ages!

Outside Beer Garden

The fantastic 8 Day Weekend outdoor beer garden and ‘longest bar in Essex’ with a great selection from Adnams and other beverages will be open with a great selection of seating for anyone wanting to rest up whilst the family enjoy eveything that is on offer at our fantastic day out!
