Saffron Walden Carnival is organised by Saffron Walden Round Table every 3 years. The aim of Carnival is to provide local people with a high quality and safe “8 day weekend“ bursting with spectacular performances, fantastic entertainment and community events! All profits made from Carnival will be distributed to local charities and good causes after the event.
Parking is available on the common and surrounding roads, restrictions do apply so please check signage. There is a car park opposite the common on common hill, and a main town car park at Swan Meadow. Disabled parking is available on the common car park, and there is a designated area within the marquee for persons with mobility scooters and disabilities. On arrival speak to one of the organisers to assist in getting to this location.
Saffron Walden is easily reached from London via the M11 (exit junction 8, initially follow the signs for A120 Hertford, then B1383 for Saffron Walden) Travelling from Cambridge, exit the M11 at junction 10 and follow the signs to Saffron Walden (A505, A1301, B184). NB. Junction 9 of the M11 is restricted access. Travelling from Colchester, stay on the A120 beyond the M11 roundabout (signposted Hertford), follow the A120 at the next roundabout, then at the next roundabout, take the B1383 signposted Saffron Walden. The nearest train station to Saffron Walden is Audley End, which is located on the Cambridge - London Liverpool Street line. Abellio Greater Anglia runs regular fast trains which stop at Audley End. Central Trains connect Stansted Airport to Audley End, Cambridge, and Birmingham. Audley End station is 2 miles (3km) from Saffron Walden.
