The 8DayWeekend is a Carnival organised by Saffron Walden Round Table every three years and located on the Common in the heart of Saffron Walden.  Every single penny of profit made is donated to charities and good causes via the charitable trust of Saffron Walden Round Table.

The organisers are volunteers, who give all their time and energy for free to deliver an extravaganza of music, sports and other events and entertainment for the town. Spurred on by the support you give us, please take a moment during the week to thank those, without who, this event would not be possible.

The Carnival dates back to the 1950s and has grown to the spectacle that was seen in 2017 with crowds of up to 2,000 people enjoying the festivities, including a sell-out Final Night Party. It takes around 18 months to plan and deliver the 8 Day Weekend with many other organisations and businesses contributing to the overall success; be it The Town Council who permit the use of the Common and Town Hall, other Charitable groups such as Rotary, 41 Club & The Diamonds who provide volunteers and our Honorary members who between them have years of experience and knowledge.

Saffron Walden Carnival

A key part of the opening weekend is the Procession. It is known for being the 2nd largest non-funded event of its type in the country with float numbers regularly exceeding 100. Supported by various local groups, companies, families and friends getting together to build out and dress up their own floats, participants then walk/drive around a route through Saffron Walden with crowds in excess of 15,000 cheering them on around the streets.
