The birthday of Freddie Mercury

In a week that celebrates the birthday of Freddie Mercury, widely regarded as one of the greatest lead singers in the history of rock music and known for his flamboyant stage persona, 8 Day Weekend organisers are delighted to announce that the first headline act secured for 2020 is the return of Gary Mullen & The Works Official performing “One Night of Queen”.

Globally acknowledged as the best tribute act in the world to Queen, it was an easy decision to ask Gary to return.
Chairman Nick Head commented, “Everyone was blown away by the performance in 2017 and as a result we wasted no time securing them for our opening weekend. Even on a Thursday night in 2017 the event was a near sell-out so we widely expect by moving the show to the first Saturday (11th July) that this time it will be a complete sell-out. Following the procession there will be an incredible energy and buzz in the town and I can’t think of a better way to conclude the day for the many thousands of fans young and old”

Freddie Mercury would have celebrated his 73rd birthday on the 5th September and the appeal of Queen shows no sign of abatement following the hugely successful biographical drama in 2018, Bohemian Rhapsody.

8 Day Weekend plans will be ramped up in the next couple of months after the summer break and for anyone interested in being a Carnival Partner, there is just 1 package left available.

Our website will be updated over the coming months so we urge people to stay tuned to Facebook, Instagram, twitter for all the latest announcements.
