Golf Day - 3rd June at Saffron Walden Golf Club

The Carnival Golf day returns to its rightful home in Saffron Walden and will be held on Friday 3rd June at Saffron Walden Golf Club.

The day is action packed with the valued prize of the 582 Cup up for grabs; 18 holes of golf, demonstration by world trick champion Geoff Swain, opportunity to win a brand new car courtesy of Vindis, team prize, longest drive, nearest pin, goody bags for all entrants and the all important carvery at the end of the day.

Teams of 4 cost £200 and all enquiries should be made to Saffron Walden Golf Club.

The Saffron Walden Snooker Club is hosting a Snooker event on Thursday June 30th. The competition shall be a 3 man team event.

Five-a-side Football - Carnival weekday evenings on the Common

We would like to invite your club / school /group to take part in the Five-a-side football competitions for Carnival 2011. This will be held on Saffron Walden Common during the Carnival weekday evenings, with finals taking place Saturday 9th July 2011. There will be five categories this year comprising of Adults (over 16), and Youth to include a female under 14's competition. Subject to numbers of teams entered these will be played on a group basis.

Games will be played to the normal Five-a -side rules, which will be available on the day. Entry to the competition will require the below information being filled out and a accompanying cheque for the fee stated for your category to be mailed to SWRT Carnival, PO Box 214, 37 High Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1AS. All applications need to be received by Friday 1st July 2011 at the latest.

Bed Race - Sunday 3rd July in the Market Square

Time: 10:00am to 12:00pm

This year we are running the famous Bed Race, which shall be themed Heroes.

What is a bed race? - The team shall consist of 4 people to propel the bed, and one other person on the bed as a passenger, the fastest time wins!

Car Boot Sale - Sunday 3rd July on the Common car park

Time: 7:00am - 11:00am

Gates will open at 7am. Vehicles should be parked up the side of the common and not on the common car park or common itself prior to opening.

Note: NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OR VANS WILL BE ALLOWED

Entry fee: £5.00 per car payable on the gate

Tug of War - Sunday 3rd July on the Common

Time: 2:00pm - 3:00pm

We would like to invite your friends / club / school / group to take part in the Tug Of War competition on Saffron Walden Common, Sunday 3rd July 2011. Teams will be comprised of 6 people and subject to numbers of teams entered; these will be played on a group basis.

ID will be required to show proof of age i.e. photocopy of birth certificate on day of tournament, this is to allow us to make it a fair and equal game of enjoyment for all participants.

Matches will take place in accordance to the rules described. Entry to the competition will require the below information being filled out and returned to SWRT Carnival, PO Box 214, 37 High Street, Saffron Walden, CB10 1AS.

Swimming Gala - Tuesday 5th July at the Lord Butler Fitness and Leisure Centre

Saffron Walden round Table is once again proud to associate its tri-annual swimming gala with Saffron Walden Amateur Swimming Club (SWASC).

SWASC celebrates its 100th Birthday in 2011 and what better way to celebrate than during Carnival week.

The event will be held at the Lord Butler Fitness and Leisure Centre from 7pm to 9pm and England tri-athlete Jack Peasgood will be joining our Carnival Queen and attendants for the prize giving.
